Shabazz Palaces

You might know Ishmael Butler as a member of Digable Planets, but it looks as if his side hustle has been working alongside producer Erik Blood and percussionist Tendai Maraire under the moniker Shabazz Palaces.   Collectively, these guys make some pretty amazing music that has definitely caught my ear as of lately.  Take a listen to a track from the upcoming debut album, Black Up which will be released on June 28th in the US. There's also a cool video for "Blast It" from the Village Beat film, Tough Bond.

Thanks for coming through LaLa and Stony Watson. I like the combination of their styles too. I damn sure hope my neighbors like Shabazz Palaces because I've been blasting it lately!

This is a wonderful record! I'm really glad to see Ish is still working. He was the primary producer behind the Planets first two albums.

I'm glad that he's working also. Although Digable Planets still tour and perform with a different female emcee, I kinda miss the vibe that you got from all of the originial members.
